Soft Lead 

An alternative to a lead rope with a chain, this is especially useful for sensitive horses and foals. It is a 28” soft marine rope with a clip attached to a nylon lead.

Peggy highly recommends this lead: “I find using the soft lead, woven over the noseband and attached to the offside, is very a supportive teaching aid when creating new patterns in leading, particularly when starting and stopping. Leading the horse from the side in this manner, overrides our tendency as handlers to pull down on or hang on the horse’s head by the downward pressure of our hand on the lead. I use this lead with horses that have difficulty focusing or have confidence issues. It is ideal to use the soft lead when doing the Connected Groundwork exercise, Slide up, Slide out, prior to work on the longer lines.” This lead does not work as effectively with a rope halter.
